No, I'm not watching True Blood right now, but I'm still a fan!

We don't get HBO.

Our landlady provides us with basic cable which pretty much covers channels 1-98…so no HBO for me. And that sucks considering the season 3 premiere for True Blood was tonight.

I'm going to miss all the Sookie/Eric dreams/nightmares that Bill has, and all the close calls that Sookie and Eric are bound to have during the course of the season.

I read the books. Am reading the books. LOVE the books. Some of the twists the story takes surprise me…especially the whole introduction of the fairies. And I know some people are confused as to why the series is introducing the fairies a book early… but I get it. I mean, there are 10 books now…who knows if the series will be around 10 years? They have to get a jump on all the awesome stuff just in case, otherwise there will be some book fans left in the dark.

The best part about being a fan of a book that's been turned into a series or movie is seeing all the stuff you love, the stuff you imagined in your mind, come to life. I'd say my favorite thing about the books is the relationship that has developed between Sookie and Eric. I mean, I am SO team Eric. Especially given the truth behind Bill's initial pursuit of Sookie. As I was explaining to my husband (who could give two shits about Sookie, or Twilight, or anything I read that isn't Marvel-centered) Eric has always been true to himself. Eric has never lied about who he is or his intentions. Yes, he's a "bad boy" but he's always been honest about that. Bill starts his relationship with Sookie with false pretenses, and when she finds this out she feels she doesn't know Bill anymore…it is the ultimate betrayal.

Eric has never betrayed Sookie in this way…he is always true to her from step one…in spite of his bad boy personality. And I think that's what Sookie is attracted to. That and she gets a taste of his gentler side more than once and that's enough to make any girl fall for the bad boy.

Anyway, I'm sad I'm missing all the excitement of the premiere, but as soon as episode one of season 3 is available on iTunes I'm totally buying it…just so I can get a glimpse of my lovely Eric…and a glimpse of Bill being tortured. Nice.
