I'm back

I know I promised to blog more frequently than before and I will, I PROMISE. But I have a good excuse for not blogging the past week. I just got home from a brief visit with family in the home state. I packed up the child, doggy, and cat to drive home and visit family for a bit. Mostly we went home to maximize our visits with family before we transfer in July. I also grabbed some much-missed belongings from my Mom's house and my sister-in-law's attic. I had packed various toys of Eleana's away while living with Mom last year and just never had the room in the car to bring it all back with us. We still had to leave some things behind including Eleana's bike and her rocking chair. Perhaps we will be able to make another short trip before the transfer to grab those items so the movers can pack them for us.

I came home to a tiny mess in the house. This time, thankfully, it wasn't anything disastrous or surprising but a mess of my own doing. I was in such a hurry to leave this town and get home that I forgot about the dishes in the sink and the trash in the trash can. Woops. Plus my yard looks more like something out of a J. R. R. Tolkien novel than a suburban yard. I planned on mowing it today, and weeding the flower beds, but it's been raining all morning and the yard will probably not be dry enough for me to do any of that stuff until tomorrow. Plus, it's already 3 and I will have zero time to tend to my smelly doggy before we go to training class tonight.

Miss Marvel enjoyed herself a lot while in WV. She met my mom's and aunt's dogs plus one lonely stray. Mom's dogs were relatively accepting of her, though they snapped at her several times. My aunt's dogs (who visit my mom frequently) were rather mean to Miss Marvel, and one gave her a booboo in between her eyes. It was the stray (lovingly named Christmas Buddy when we met him during Christmas break) who loved her best, and she loved him best, too. I'm partial to believing she was attracted to Buddy's scent more than anything. The poor thing reeked of skunk, something I'm sure Miss Marvel hasn't smelled much in her short life. She was on him like bees on honey! If Joe had gone with us he probably would have tried to bring Buddy back with us, but we can barely swing it with one dog and cat let alone two dogs. Especially since we have no idea of knowing what this dog has. Regardless, I'm sure Mom will be hard pressed to get rid of him any time soon. She secretly loves Buddy. He's found a smelly place in all our hearts.

The rest of my day will include baths for everyone including the cat (fingers crossed, if I have enough time), and doggy classes at Petsmart. After that I really severely need to get a gallon of milk. My child is in need of "chocolate milk brown" and won't back down.

Perhaps tonight after Smallville (if it's new, *I hope*) I will get a chance to watch one of my netflix movies.

Tomorrow I am the yard queen if it's dry enough.

Today I am queen of scones.
