more books, please!

I only just realized this, but in 2008 I read at least 5 books! That's half of what I resolved to read, which is great considering I probably wouldn't have read any if it were up to me. Isn't that horrifying? I love books dearly, but the only time I truly get to read these days is after bedtime in my room, in the dark, with a book light while Eleana is sleeping.

I read "Remember Me?" by Sophie Kinsella via my friends' blog book exchange and loved it. If you would like to receive the book in the mail from me, please let us all know. Follow the link above and the shipment shall be arranged!

In addition to "Remember Me?" I read the entire Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.

5 books! In one year! Actually, 5 books in about 6 months, which is pretty darn good.

So this year I'd like to read at least 5 (setting the bar low for myself this time!) but aim for more. In my book queue (aka the basket by my bed) I have "Marley and Me," "Hitchhikers Guide," "His Dark Materials," and "Peter Pan." My mom is ready "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" which she got for Christmas, so when she's done with that I'll grab it.

I have already read one book - yes I AM counting the entire Watchmen series as a book! A single issue of one comic book series does not count in my opinion, but I read the whole published series softbound, swallowing it whole and alive. So I'm counting it as a book. Which means I also have to tackle the Red Hulk series which Joe received for Christmas from his BFF.

I also would like to read Stephanie Meyers' "The Host" just to say I read it...but to be perfectly honest it doesn't really interest me that much yet. Maybe when it's available in soft cover I'll pick it up. Or better yet, download it onto my mom's Kindle...which she got before Christmas and hasn't used yet!

So cheers to the new year and being smarter in the brain by reading books.

What are your resolutions for 2009?
